Fly fishing for carp is not new--anglers have been pursuing these challenging fish for decades. In Colorado lie some of the West's best places to fly fish for carp. When you are ready for a change of pace and want to pursue a species that offers a little something different than fly fishing for trout, head to water in pursuit of carp. Here are some of the best places to fly fish for carp in Colorado.

Boyd Lake: Near Loveland, Boyd Lake offers great carp fishing, especially during the warmer months when carp move into the shallows.

South Platte River (Denver and Brighton Area: The urban stretch of the South Platte River is renowned for carp fishing. The section near Confluence Park in downtown Denver and further downstream towards Brighton offers excellent opportunities.

Pueblo Reservoir: Located in southern Colorado, Pueblo Reservoir has a healthy carp population. The shallow flats around the reservoir are perfect for sight fishing.

Chatfield Reservoir: This reservoir is located southwest of Denver and has large populations of carp. The flats on the southern end are particularly good for spotting and stalking carp.
