Planning a fish trip near you can sometimes be as much fun as actually going fishing. Once you get to the water--especially if you are floating--make the most of your time by being ready to fish from the start. That begins by being Boat Ramp Ready. Be boat ramp ready. If you’re at the boat launch putting in or taking out, be ready to do it quickly. Have your rods rigged, coolers loaded, and trailer-backing skills honed. Inflate rafts away from the ramp. When taking out, pull your boat out of the water then unpack the gear once out of the ramp area

Pre-Trip Preparation: Check the Weather and know the forecast and prepare for any conditions. Inspect your boat to make sure it's in good working condition—check the engine, batteries, and safety equipment. Ensure you have the necessary fishing and boating licenses.

Gear and Equipment: Be sure you have life jackets, fire extinguisher, flares, and a first aid kit should be on board. Download onWater and be ready to explore. Prepare your rods, tackle, and fly boxes.

At the Ramp: Prepare in advance and get everything ready before reaching the ramp—load your gear, check everything, and have your vehicle and trailer ready. Launch as quickly as possible. Be sure you know how to back a trailer before you go to the boat ramp.

Get-in and Get-Out: Once your boat is in the water as quickly as possible move your vehicle and trailer to a designated parking area to keep the ramp clear for others.

At the Take-Out: Anchor your boat away from the take-out so others can put or take-out if your vehicle is not ready to be backed-down. After removing the boat, clean off the trailer and boat to prevent the spread of invasive specie
